CASP3 and cancer: Meanwhile, it was observed that 6-GN, the other bioactive compound of ginger, downregulates the NF-ĸB, AKT, and Bcl2 genes in HeLa cells and increases the expression of TNFα, BAX, and cytochrome c as well as caspase-3 and PARP. These data suggest that 6-GN induces death of cancer cells possibly through caspase-3-mediated apoptosis and autophagy [78].
