SRPK1 silencing results in increased rates of apoptosis, and decreased phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinase 3 (MAPK3), MAPK1 and protein kinase B (AKT) in breast cancer cell lines, suggesting a likely relationship between SRPK1 and AKT/MAPK signalling pathways [25].
