In the neoplastic cell investigated, the higher levels of Hif1 which follows hypoxia induces, among others, the transcription of ZEB2. ZEB2 protein overexpression leads to down regulation of Ephrin B2 and, in this model the authors demonstrated that, following loss of Ephrin B2 expression, the glioma cells become more invasive[50]. This evidence concerns the gene ZEB2 and central nervous system cancer.
