CD44 and colorectal carcinoma: Furthermore, several data correlate the expression of CD44v6 and poor prognosis of CRC patients: indeed, Saito et al. [28] demonstrated that high level of CD44v6 expression is an independent poor prognostic factor in disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS); moreover, the CD44v6 expression is higher than CD44 in stage II and III sporadic CRC, thus confirming that CD44v6 is a more useful biomarker as compared to CD44[29].
