Kryczek et al. [58] demonstrated that CD4+ T cells define CRC stemness, by releasing IL-22 and activating the transcription factor signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)3, involved in histone modifications of specific cluster of genes, and the histone-3-lysine-79 methyltransferase disruptor of telomeric silencing 1-like, involved in core stem cell genes like Nanog and Sox2. This evidence concerns the gene IL22 and colorectal carcinoma.
