Although all the cell lines tested were sensitive to BRAF knockdown, growth inhibition after DUSP4 silencing was only observed in melanoma cells despite a similar level of DUSP4 knockdown (Figs 3F and S4D), suggesting that the role of DUSP4 in supporting the viability of BRAF-mutant cells may be exclusive to the melanocytic lineage. This evidence concerns the gene BRAF and melanoma.
