UBC and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: UBC (Polyubiquitin-C) is a good example of such an artificially over-connected protein (see Supplement for details: S3 File and S5 Table within), and we notice that this very protein is singled out as being important for ALS in recent study by Mao et al. [17], due to its high node degree in the local network around ALS associated proteins.
