Our group previously showed that, in mice, diet-induced obesity (DIO) caused airway inflammation with elevation of interleukin (IL)-1β levels and AHR, which resembled non-eosinophilic asthma in humans (Younas et al., 2019; Fricke et al., 2018). The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
