LDHA and cancer: Semenogelins 1 and 2 (SEMG1 and 2) interact with the glycolytic enzymes-pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) and lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA), increase the expression levels of these two partners, and elevate the protein levels of the membrane mitochondrial potential, resulting in increases in glycolysis, respiration and ROS production in several cancer cell lines, implying that SEMG1 and 2 enhance cancer cell energy metabolism and exemplify tumour cell oncogenic features (49).
