Studies have shown that F. nucleatum significantly promotes the secretion of IL-6, IL-8, and IL-1β in hGECs, with no significant effect on IL-10 secretion, while S. gordonii has no significant effect on the secretion of IL-6, IL-8, IL-1β, and IL-10 at 4 h or 24 h of infection (Ji et al., 2007; Stathopoulou et al., 2010) and even inhibits IL-6 and IL-8 secretion during 8 h of infection (Hasegawa et al., 2007). This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and infection.
