As targeting mediators of the coagulation cascade downstream of inflammasome activation and pyroptosis has not yielded any new, safer anticoagulant drugs [134], developing therapeutics that inhibit immunothrombosis during activation of the innate immune response to infection, for example, by blocking TF expression and/or inflammasome or STING activation and subsequent pyroptosis, presents an exciting prospect.
