The second most widely recognized neurodegenerative disease is Parkinson's disease (PD), which involves a loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) as well as the occurrence of Lewy bodies which are made up of a group of α-synuclein (α-Syn) protein, and this disease is often linked to ageing and mitochondrial dysfunction. Here, SNCA is linked to Parkinson disease.
