GAPDH and breast cancer: Ascorbate has a prooxidative effect when interacting with metal ions in cell culture media because of the H2O2 generation [7,22], it downregulates the transcription factors important for adjusting to hypoxic conditions [23], inhibits GAPDH by generating ROS in KRAS and BRAF mutant colorectal cancer cells [20] and induces caspase-independent cell death pathway in breast cancer cells [21].
