Electrical cardioversion (EC) quickly and effectively converts AF to SR and can be performed safely for patients with AF of ≥48 h or unknown duration when anticoagulation with vitamin-K antagonists, a factor Xa inhibitor, or a direct thrombin inhibitor is used for at least 3 weeks before and at least 4 weeks after EC [1,2,3]. The gene discussed is F10; the disease is atrial fibrillation.
