INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus: A cross-sectional analysis (n = 1342) revealed that ionized magnesium was independently associated with T2D at baseline in a logistic regression model adjusted for age, sex, and race (p < 0.0001) as well as in a model that was further adjusted for BMI, fasting insulin, free fatty acids, and GlycA (p < 0.0001) (Table 5).
