TRIM8 regulates the tumor suppressor p53 [58], the NF-kB [55] (Nuclear Factor kappa light- chain-enhancer of activated B cells) and the STAT3 [59] (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3) of the JAK-STAT pathways; its association with these three pathways explains its dual role in cancer as an oncogene or as tumor suppressor protein [9]. The gene discussed is TRIM8; the disease is cancer.
