LATS1 is found to decrease GC cell proliferation and invasion in vitro, and tumour growth and metastasis in vivo, by inhibiting YAP nuclear translocation and, thus, expression of pro-proliferative and pro-invasive target genes, among which are YAP, CTGF, PCNA, MMP-2, and MMP-9. The gene discussed is LATS1; the disease is neoplasm.
