In this model, Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection led to IL-6, tumour necrosis factor-α, and granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor release in both healthy and CF-airway-chips, while IL-8, a potent PMN chemo-attractant, was significantly higher in CF-airway-chips. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and cystic fibrosis.
