INS and type 1 diabetes mellitus: Induction of T1D with STZ in Sprague Dawley (SD) rats caused significant changes in the following blood parameters that were not protected by NMN administration: decrease in body weight from 450 ± 17 g to 346 ± 14 g (p < 0.001, Table 1); increase in blood glucose levels from 132 ± 18 mg/dL to 405 ± 22 mg/dL (p < 0.001, Table 1); increase in % HbA1c from 5.4 ± 1 to 16.7 ± 4.1 (p < 0.001, Table 1); decrease in insulin levels from 8.3 ± 2 to 1.2 ± 0.7 (p < 0.001, Table 1); and increase in total cholesterol, HDL, and LDL levels.
