Bioinformatic analysis has uncovered various fusions in the 5’ untranslated region of TMPRSS2 (21q22) when it is fused to ERG (21q22), ETV1 (7p21), ETV4 (17q21), or ETV5 (3q27), resulting in the overexpression of ETS and ETS-related genes in prostate cancer [8,9,10,11].
