Low KANK1 expression in tumor tissues was associated with a poor prognosis in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), astrocytoma, and lung adenocarcinoma patients (Kim et al., 2018; Fan et al., 2020), while KANK1 overexpression indicated a good prognosis in patients with invasive breast cancer (Kariri et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene KANK1 and oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.
