TNF and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency: Treatment with another antioxidant apocynin reduced WAT level of H2O2, enhanced plasma adiponectin levels, reduced glucose and insulin levels and reduced pro-inflammatory TNFα gene expression in obese KKAy mice, suggesting suppression of H2O2 production has favorable metabolic effects and may alleviate WAT inflammation in obesity in vivo (164).
