Initially developed for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), which carries the translocation t(9;22)(q34;q11) leading to the BCR::ABL1 fusion protein, inhibitory reagents such as dasatinib (DASA), nilotinib (NILO), ponatinib (PONA) and imatinib (IMA) are used for treatment of BCR::ABL1+ B-ALL, a subtype comprising approximately 30% of cases (Hunger and Mullighan 2015; Komorowski et al. 2020). The gene discussed is ABL1; the disease is chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
