An increasing evidence indicates that lncRNAs can regulate glucose metabolism in cancer cells in different ways (Figure 3B), such as directly regulating glycolytic enzymes (e.g., pyruvate carboxylase, fructose-2, 6-bisphosphatase, 6-phosphogluconate, phosphoenolpyruvate carboxy kinase and glucose transporter GLUT), or through indirect regulation of signal transduction pathways (e.g., Wnt/Snail, JAK/STAT, p53 pathways, HIF-1α, PI3K/Akt/mTOR and lkb1-ampk pathways)83, 84.
