APC and neoplasm: Proteins, namely APC, Axin, CK1 and GSK3β, are the main components of this complex, which cooperate with each other to avoid activating the Wnt pathway by degrading the cytoplasmic β-catenin.3 Mutation of the tumour-suppressor genes or oncogenes such as APC, Axin2, SMAD4 or KRAS would cause degradation of the complex and allows β-catenin accumulated in the cytoplasm to transfer into the cell nucleus.
