Numerous potential biomarkers are under investigation, among which candidate proteins, namely, tau and Aβ proteins have been considered as key biomarkers for AD screening.8–11 In particular, numerous studies have determined the concentration level of tau proteins in brain or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and have demonstrated that tau levels are higher in AD cases than in healthy controls.12–16 The difficulty, high cost, and invasiveness associated with obtaining CSF or brain tissue samples may, however, prevent the tau assay from being run in a timely fashion for the early diagnosis of AD. Here, MAPT is linked to Alzheimer disease.
