Consistent with this variability of tumour GCN5L1 levels, we detected higher p‐S6K levels (over 1.5‐fold change) in 14 out of the total 40 HCC specimens compared to their adjacent non‐tumour tissues; 14 HCC specimens showed very modestly increased activity, and 12 HCC tumours had significantly lower (over 30% reduction) mTORC1 activities. This evidence concerns the gene BLOC1S1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
