Based on the experimental evidence, resveratrol can improve hepatic steatosis through regulating inflammatory pathways, increasing antioxidant capacity and insulin sensitivity, decreasing lipogenic gene expression, de novo lipogenesis and intracellular lipids in the liver, upregulating carnitine/palmitoyl transferase 1 as well as Acyl-CoA oxidase, and subsequent increasing fatty acid (FA) oxidation [25–27, 41].
