Cali shows a cytotoxic activity in the picomolar range that is exploited by two anticancer treatments, gemtuzumab ozogamicine (Mylotarg) and inotuzumab ozogamicin (Besponsa), consisting respectively of a CD33-cali or CD22-cali antibody-drug conjugates used for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (Williams et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene CD33 and acute myeloid leukemia.
