During helminth infection and in response to increased levels of IFNγ, EGCs upregulate C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10) to recruit IFNγ+CD8+ T cells to the tunica muscularis in order to amplify the IFNγ tissue response and propagate immune cell activation [27].
