In prostate cancer, another receptor-dependent tumor, it was shown that PKN1 isinvolved in the induction of prostatic epithelial neoplasia.20 Moreover, in hormone-dependent prostate cancer, PKN1 phosphorylationstimulates transactivation of androgen-dependent genes.21 The kinase activity of PKN1 is also required for androgen-independentprostate tumors to metastasize—the inhibition of PKN1 resulted in the prevention ofmetastases in mouse models.22 Here, PKN1 is linked to prostate cancer.
