Studies have shown that overexpressed PRRX1 can induce EMT in hepatoma cells by activating the TGF-β pathway to promote β-catenin entry into the nucleus, while downregulation of Prrx1 can inhibit the expression of Slug and TGF-β-R2 by upregulating Pitx2-microRNA pathway, then relieve the inhibition of Slug on E-cadherin, thus leading to the occurrence of MET in hepatoma cells, which is closely related to metastasis and recurrence of liver cancer (28). This evidence concerns the gene PRRX1 and liver cancer.
