We therefore aimed, in a cross-sectional study of older British men [25], to examine associations between frailty and prefrailty with markers of inflammation (CRP and IL-6); endothelial dysfunction (von Willebrand factor (vWF)); coagulation (D-dimer and tPA); and myocardial injury (hs-cTnT) and myocardial strain (NT-proBNP) separately in men with, and without, overt clinical cardiovascular disease, to assess patterns of association in the two groups. Here, CRP is linked to endothelial dysfunction.
