HNF4α, the central transcriptional regulator of hepatocyte gene expression, differentiation, and function maintenance, has been shown to have a central regulatory role in not only the development of biliary cancer [30, 31] but also the formation of microvilli, maintenance of normal liver function, and alleviation of liver fibrosis [32, 33]. This evidence concerns the gene HNF4A and Hepatic fibrosis.
