Typical medicines used against triple negative breast cancer include platinum drugs, taxanes, and anthracycline.10 A group of promising emerging medicines, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (e.g. olaparib and talazoparib), have been identified as a more specific therapy for a subgroup of triple negative breast cancer with cells having a mutation of BRCA1/BRCA2 genes.11 New effective and selective anticancer agents are urgently needed for the safer and more effective treatment of triple negative breast cancer.
