Wang et al. demonstrated thaterastin and RSL3 induced renal tubular cell death accompanied by high ACSL4 levels in vitro, while the ACSL4 inhibitor rosiglitazone improved the survival rate and alleviated kidney injury in diabetic nephropathy mice, and decreased lipid peroxidation products and iron content (Wang et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene ACSL4 and diabetic kidney disease.
