CYCS and cancer: A subsequent pharmacological study revealed that trifolin heptaacetate could induce cancer cell apoptosis through a caspase-dependent mechanism that is associated with the release of cytochrome c.98 It has been suggested that trifolin heptaacetate has the potential to be developed as a chemopreventive agent and possibly as a therapeutic agent against cancer; however, more detailed mechanistic studies on trifolin heptaacetate are still needed.
