There are three groups of viral proteins expressed by EBV during a latent infection: (1) the Epstein Barr virus nuclear antigen (EBNA) family, which includes EBNA1–EBNA4, within which EBNA3 encompasses EBNA3a, EBNA3b and EBNA3c; (2) the late membrane protein (LMP) group, which includes LMP1 and LMP2; and (3) EBV-encoded RNA (EBER). This evidence concerns the gene PDLIM7 and disease arising from reactivation of latent virus.
