The current authors suggest that the enhanced and imbalanced Ca2+ waves due to Piezo2 channelopathy that is suggested to lead to the upregulation of α2δ-1 protein, eventually decreases the conduction velocity of primary sensory neurons, as Sonkodi et al. suggested (Sonkodi et al. 2020), leading to the switch of involved transduction to second-order neurons. This evidence concerns the gene PIEZO2 and channelopathy.
