CXCL11 and infection: Thänert et al. found CXCL9, CXCL10 and CXCL11 to be overexpressed in streptococcal NSTI [18] and a recent study analysing cytokines and chemokines in plasma samples from NSTI patients by Palma Medina et al. found CXCL10 to be a robust biomarker for differentiating between monomicrobial and polymicrobial NSTI infections [77].
