This variant inhibits eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 gamma (EEF1G), which is known to be overexpressed in various cancers, such as esophageal carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and adenocarcinoma of the colon26–28, suggesting a potential role for CARS1 variants in cancer through association with EEF1G. This evidence concerns the gene EEF1G and cancer.
