• In an in vitro study, oleuropein at the dose of 20 μg/ml showed anti-inflammatory activity after 30 min of administration by inhibiting the secretion of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α)–induced matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9), which additionally resulted in the anti-atherosclerosis effect. The gene discussed is MMP9; the disease is atherosclerosis.
