KEGG analysis of up- and downregulated genes in each group showed that, when comparing the SAP and control groups, upregulated genes in the SAP group were mainly related to focal adhesion; the IL-17 signaling pathway; interactions between viral proteins, cytokines, and cytokine receptors; the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway; regulation of the actin cytoskeleton; the complement and aggregation cascade; and proteoglycans in malaria, prostate cancer, and phagosomes. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and malaria.
