A recent review summarized the main modifiable risk factors, such as body mass index, anemia, lower education level; and non-modifiable risk factors, such as maternal age, primiparous, multiple pregnancy, HDP history, gestational diabetes mellitus, pre-existing type 2 diabetes mellitus, pre-existing urinary tract infection, single nucleotide polymorphism in the angiotensinogen gene, and a family history of HDP or type 2 diabetes mellitus (5).
