Increased expression of genes downstream of type I and II IFNs and the NLR family pyrin domain‐containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome results in a more vigorous and faster early immune response against infections, including SARS‐CoV‐2, and thereby mitigates the development of severe Covid‐19 disease [Pylaeva et al., 2016; Loske et al., 2022; Chou et al., 2022]. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is infection.
