These expanded RNA repeats fold into structures, which can strongly interact with proteins like heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K (hnRNP K) (White et al., 2010) in SCA10 and muscleblind-like 1 protein (MBNL1) in DM1, DM2, and HD (Mankodi et al., 2001; Fardaei et al., 2002). Here, HNRNPK is linked to Huntington disease.
