So far, there have been many studies on the correlation between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the CAT gene and diseases, suggesting that genetic variations in CAT and its promoters are risk factors for a variety of cardiometabolic diseases [8], such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and arterial aging [9,10,11,12]. The gene discussed is CAT; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
