Mutations in dysbindin-1 are responsible for the Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (Li et al. 2003) and genetic variations of dysbindin-1 are associated with psychiatric conditions like psychosis, bipolar disorder, major depression, and schizophrenia (Straub et al. 2002; Talbot et al. 2009). Here, DTNBP1 is linked to bipolar disorder.
