In Mexican populations aged 18 to 25 years, the risk of obesity (2.7 times, p = 0.006) and low HDL cholesterol (2.1 times, p = 0.018) was increased in those with the G allele of APOA5 rs3135506 and saturated fatty acid intake ≥ 12 g/day [33]. This evidence concerns the gene APOA5 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
