Examples of well-studied TAAs include the developmental antigen CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen), the cancer-testis antigens of the MAGE (melanoma-associated antigen) family and NY-ESO-1, the overexpressed TAAs epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) in breast cancer or CD19 in B cell malignancies, and the post-translationally modified antigen MUC-1 (3).
