Pups (5 days old) were randomized into either one (n = 8) of the following three groups: (1) Pups of the control group were pretreated with PBS via intraperitoneal injection then breastfed, (2) pups pretreated with PBS via intraperitoneal injection then subjected to NEC inducement and (3) pups were intraperitoneal injected with CXCL14 at a dose of 4.5 ng/g body weight per day then induced by NEC. Here, CXCL14 is linked to necrotizing enterocolitis.
